My boyfriend told me today that he's noticed a shopping trend with me. I get obsessed with makeup for about a month, during which I do a crazy amount of "research" (aka makeupalley, sephora reviews, youtube, and makeup blogs ofcourse...), make a shopping list, go to sephora and swatch everything I picked out and then because I'm too scared to ringup a high number at the cash, I'll only buy a couple of items. However, since I repeat this process almost every day my fear is completely invalidated. To my boyfriend (and probably the rest of the world) it probably makes very little sense why I would buy only a couple of items... almost every day, but I really like it that way. Each day after a tiring day boring of lectures and tedious assignments I get to go to the mall, play around with makeup and choose a "treat" for myself to bring home. Am I really the only one that does this!?
Anyways... the whole point here which I've completely missed-- the trend my boyfriend pointed out today. He says he sees this pattern happen for about a month and then I start to feel as though I own too much makeup and I switch to clothes. From all the products you're about to see it is pretty clear what phase of the trend I was in this month.
By the way, I completely denied any such trend existing to my boyfriend but I can't help that admit that my Sephora list is starting to look like a Zara list. I also purchased my first clothing item in a couple of months today. Well, it was a scarf, but hey I'm just entering the next stage according to his theory.
So here are the products, which I'm thinking of doing in-depth reviews for some of them, we'll see because I have so many ideas for future blog posts already!
I'll start with Sephora.
As of today, it was the last day of the VIB weekend. All members got 20% off on everything in the store. I bought a lot of these products during the sale, but also quite a few before. (I'm an idiot.) However, everything here I made sure I really loved before I purchased it. I'd recommend every single one of these products. I'll include all the Canadian prices since I live in Canada where everything is more expensive. Because we suck.
I bought some nude lipsticks- my absolute fav.
Benefit: Lady's Choice $23CAD
YSL Rouge Volupte #1 Nude Beige $39CAD (with VIB 20% off)
Tarina Tarantino: Leatherette $16CAD (on sale because this brand is being discontinued)
Tarte Park Avenue Princess Mineral Powder Bronzer $38CAD
Dior Blush: Pink in Love $42CAD (with VIB 20% off)
Philosophy the Present clear makeup (primer) $28CAD
Bobbi Brown corrector- peach $30CAD (with VIB 20% off)
Anastasia brow powder duo in Brunette $29CAD (with VIB 20% off)
Lancome Juicy Tube- tickled pink $22CAD (with VIB 20% off)
I also got a couple of freebies- a VIB sephora tote, some samples, and I redeemed 500 points for this awesome Urban Decay set. It came with a FULL SIZE 24/7 glide on eyeliner in zero, a FULL SIZE original primer potion and a travel size all nighter setting spray. Best point award gift so far.
I got two items on sale. A sephora brand silver glitter eyeliner $7CAD (with VIB 20% off)
and a sephora brand travel cosmetic case $11CAD.
This case is amazing- so much space and it has a convenient hanger attached.
This is everything I bought at Sephora.
I also stopped in Holt Renfrew and picked up the Armani light primer to go with my foundation.
It was $62CAD, a bit of a splurge but I love Armani face products.
I also was given some samples of the Michael Kors body lotion. It smells AH-MAH-ZING.
I was lusting over Laura Mercier's Creme Brulee Body Soufflé but I love this equally.
This combination of my Armani foundation with the primer makes my face look like a million bucks.
On to MAC...
MAC changed their palettes but I prefer the older version. I already had one and I wanted another one of the same form to put my leftover shadows in so I tracked someone down selling her used ones nearby and I got this one for $15. Now I have room for more shadows ;)
Here's what I bought at actual MAC stores.
I bought the Easy Manner blush from the holiday GlamourDaze collection, loved it soo much that I quickly went and got a backup of it. $26.50CAD each
Today I also went to the only MAC Pro store in my province and picked up the pro sculpting powder in Shadester. $18.50CAD
Only problem is it only comes in refill form so I'm not sure how I'm going to store this...
Went a little lip crazy...
Rebel lipstick
Freckletone lipstick
Peachstock lipstick (also from the pro store today)
Underage lip glass
each $18CAD
And then Fashion Whim cremesheen lip glass $22.50CAD.
Funny story here. I was browsing MAC when I saw this. This originally came out with a limited edition collection and then disappeared when I wanted to purchase it. The second I saw it in the store the other day I thought it was a fluke or a miracle so I immediately purchased it, only to learn later this has been brought back to the permanent line...
My uncle actually got me this for helping him choose some things for someone. So sweet thank you! <3
It's so perfect and yummy looking I'm afraid to use it. It's my favourite body butter scent by Bath and Body Works.
A few drugstore products.
Neutrogena Body Oil. $10CAD. This is pretty hefty for a drugstore product. ULTA has a bigger version of this and it goes for $32. But I can see why, so far I am really liking it.
Freeman Peel-off cucumber facial mask. I ran out one late night when my face was feeling irritated and clogged. I think it was like $3. It didn't really change much but it was fun to peel off and definitely felt refreshing.
Organix coconut milk. I wanted to add an oil to my hair routine and was leaning towards the infamous Moroccan oil until my good friend recommended this and said it cured her tangled long hair. I've only tried it once but so far I was really unimpressed. Her hair is gorgeous but it just didn't work for me. The only difference I noticed was weighed-down and heavy feeling hair. It was only around $7 but if I try it again with equally bad results I'll probably return it just because I hate having around products I'll never use.
And the scarf from Zara that I mentioned earlier lol. It was $20CAD
I also got matching bracelets with my friend from Juicy Couture. It's just their signature gold charm bracelet. It was on sale but I can't remember the end price.
Well that's it for the haul, I am going to try post some other posts in the very near future!
Until next time,
xoxo V
